Info-Babe Madness 2008 National Champion Kim Fischer Born and raised in the Houston area, Kim's career in Television has taken her all over the great state of Texas. Her first stop was in Denton Texas, where she attended the University of North Texas. While there, she cheered on her school as Scrappy the Eagle Mascot, and interned at the NBC affiliate in Dallas, KXAS.
After graduation, Kim got her first job in Abilene, Texas where she was the morning anchor for the NBC affiliate, KRBC. She then made the jump further north to Amarillo where she anchored the KCIT FOX 14 News at 9, and reported for the NBC affiliate KAMR. While there, Kim volunteered for charities like the United Way, Children's Miracle Network, and even reported on the largest hail storm in Amarillo history. Her warm blood couldn't take another West Texas winter, so she packed up again... but this move took her out of the news... and into production. Kim became the Host/Producer for the Saturday Edition of Hot On Homes in Dallas in 2005... but it didn't take her long to realize her passion was in journalism. Aside from news, Kim loves being a part of the community she's in. "I can't wait to begin working with local charities, and getting into the culture that is San Antonio!" ![]() Sign: Scorpio Hometown: Sugarland, TX Pets: I have the most beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier (A.K.A. Pit Bull... I hate that name) named Paris First job: I was an order taker at Jason's Deli. Dream job: Either to be the anchor of a morning show like "Today" on NBC, or to be an Entertainment Reporter for a show like Entertainment Tonight Favorite food: Oh, hands down... American Cookie Company's Sugar Cookie Double Doozie (2 sugar cookies with icing squished in the middle.)
Favorite cartoon character: Roger Rabbit Favorite book: If Tomorrow Ever Comes, by Sydney Sheldon Wildest thing you did in college: I was a bartender... and while I wasn't the one getting wild... I was around a bunch of crazy people each and every weekend. It was always entertaining and it paid well!
Favorite Beatle: Ringo Scariest person you ever had to interview: Barack Obama... my heart was racing... and it was only one question! Favorite sports team: The Houston Astros... I still hope I get to see my boys win a world series (I know that's wishful thinking!) Favorite Band: Maroon 5 First Car: A 1990 Celica GT
Dream Car: A Lotus Elise (It's just an ultimate driving car) or a BMW M6 (it's fast... yet understated.) I'd say Ferrari... but that's too predictable! Fast Food weakness: Every once and awhile, I just love a Fat Burger!
Favorite Movies: Anchorman, Basketball, and Sliding Doors... to name a few Easily annoyed by: Slow drivers in the left hand lane... IT'S CALLED THE PASSING LANE FOR A REASON! :) Would you eat a can of live bugs for $1 million: Depends on what the bugs are... anything but cockroaches... sure. Are the anchormen always wearing pants: Not now-a-days. We all have to do full wall shots now. But when I was a morning anchor in Abilene, I would always wear pajama pants and slippers!
Favorite adult beverage: A GOOD Margarita... emphasis on the GOOD! Stupidest person you ever had to interview: The lead singer of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones... he was so full of himself that it hurt... and he has no room to be! Backup plan for a slow news day: Anything that has to do with saving animals. I work with San Antonio Animal Care Services quite a bit. Are the weathermen as weird as they seem: I prefer calling them eccentric! Coolest thing being a reporter has enabled you to do: I enjoy when I get to tell a story that really impacts my community, one that gets a major response from viewers. I think helping people is what this job is all about
Stupid human trick: I can sound like Eric Cartman from Southpark High school - cool, nerd or jock: Somewhere in the middle. I played sports, and I think I was pretty cool, but I wasn't a part of the "in crowd," I didn't like the way they treated people outside of their clique If you could slap a spice girl - which one: Posh (Victoria Beckham) that girl needs to put some meat on her bones! People would be surprised to know: I know this is a cliché answer... but I really am a total nerd. I seem really put together on air, but my single favorite thing in the world is making people laugh |
