CHARLOTTE, NC - The annual nationwide search for America's favorite local television news personality has resulted in a championship for a North Carolina anchorwoman. Morgan Fogarty, of WCCB FOX Charlotte won Info Babe Madness 2009, narrowly defeating defending champion Kim Fischer of WOAI in San Antonio for the title.
Morgan acknowledged her win on the Mack Attack on WFNZ, Charlotte's official Info Babe Madness station. "I owe this to all the FOX viewers and WFNZ listeners (and my mother and mother-in-law) who pulled together...they are the best!"
While not attending to her duties as Info Babe Madness champion, Morgan co-hosts FOX News Edge, weeknights from 10:30 to 11:00PM Eastern on WCCB. Morgan also produces regular reports for FOX news at 10, delivers on-the-scene reports from special events such as the American Idol Finals, and can allegedly do a backflip off a horse.
Contest officials successfully weathered a recount challenge championed by Al Gore, who continues a disappointing track record of voting disputes in Florida. After a week of legal maneuvering, the challenge was withdrawn when officials ruled to disallow 10,000 ballots found in Al Franken's trunk. The circumstances that brought Al Franken to Florida remain a mystery.
