Franchione Trumps Callahan
COLLEGE STATION, TX - Texas A&M head football coach Dennis Frachione resigned less than an hour after defeating rival Texas, easily beating out Bill Callahan's firing from Nebraska on Saturday. Although neither move was unexpected, Callahan was the clear frontrunner to get the earliest boot.

"I'm a little disappointed." said Callahan, whose once mighty Huskers finished 5-7 and will miss yet another bowl game. "In a season like this, you look for any superlative you can." Interim Athletic Director Tom Osborne was reportedly beside himself when told of Franchiones' announcement. "He had been looking forward to this since he took over." said an unnamed source, who spoke with us on the condition if anonymity.

Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron, also fired on Saturday, became nearly invisible after the Franchione move. "I hope people even know I'm looking for a job." said Orgeron. "It's tough enough being fired, but being upstaged like that is hard to overcome."

Lloyd Carr, whoever he is, could not be reached for comment.
