Sci-Fi Remake Drops Insensitive Title
HOLLYWOOD, CA - The production company distributing a remake of a science fiction classic has agreed to change the film's title due to pressure from civil rights groups. The updated version of the 1979 space fantasy "The Black Hole" will adopt the official name of black holes, and be released as "The Super High Gravity Location". The name changed was adopted earlier this year after an international council acknowledged that the term 'black hole' was offensive to some ethnic groups (story here).

"We applaud [the movie's production company] Features Syndicate for their decision." said Isaiah Herman, Executive Director of the National African-American Coalition of People. "We worked very hard to eradicate the original name of those heavenly bodies now known as super high gravity locations. It's only just that the new term be used."

Some associated with the film were outraged. "I shan't look upon it." said actor Maximilian Snell, star of the original film who makes a cameo appearance in the remake. "Cursed is the day when cinematic history is trod upon by snivelers and foot-lickers. I will not allow this travesty to fall upon my eyes."

Other cast members were a bit more amenable. "I don't think the title really matters." said Yvette Viveaux, also an original cast member, who once referred to Snell as a "pompous, melodramatic blowhard". She added: "The title sure didn't help this movie thirty years ago."

"We think we did the right thing." said Tucker Heinzel, Executive Producer of the film. "It's important to be responsible and to do the best we can to not offend anybody. And we want to be accurate as well - we'll name our movie after whatever they decide to call these things."
